Please join us for a free film screening celebrating the art of handmade, analogue film at the Bus Stop Theatre located at 2203 Gottingen Street in Halifax on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 7:00 pm.
The juried screening is organized by the Handmade Film Collective in partnership with the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (AFCOOP) and MediaNet and will feature over 20 short films from the East and West Coasts of Canada. Before the screening there will be an expanded handmade cinema performance by s rybczyn & z crow that will take place in the lobby.
All the films in the screening have an element of either Super 8mm or 16mm analogue film and were created using one or more handmade filmmaking techniques such as conventional hand or bucket-processing, eco-processing, scratching, animating, painting, tinting, toning, taping, and film destruction techniques.
The screening aims to challenge cinematic conventions and explore non-narrative forms and alternate methods of working in film.
Following the screening there will be a discussion with the filmmakers.
